SANDHYA GANDECHA GVI UK Ambassador Sandhya Gandecha, has helped in the Community for over 25 years now. At present Sandhya is an active Ambassador for Global Vision International (GVI). She joined her daughter to volunteer on a women's empowerment programme in Pokhara, Nepal in 2019. GVI offers lots of opportunities in lots of different areas (marine, wildlife, community, women's empowerment, education, childcare, sports, construction, business, healthcare ) all over the world (India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Peru, Mexico, Fiji, South Africa to name a few). Women Empowerment in Nepal: GVI English classes give the ladies: Hope; a sense of achievement; social connection and interaction; quality English education; something to do outside of the house, their chores and in their role as a housewife, separate to their home life. This leads to increased confidence and self-worth – and feeling less inferior to their husbands and society. Sandhya has served in various positions in the past as the Chairperson of Lohana Community North London Mahila Mandal Chairperson; Lohana Community North London Senior Ladies Chairperson; President of Golders Green Lioness Club International; President of the Indian Cultural Association of Hertfordshire and Hinduism teacher for VYO Education. In recognition of all her services to the community, Sandhya has been awarded many times by the various bodies over the years, the recent award was the Inspiring Indian Women IIW SHE INSPIRES AWARDS 2023 WINNER: Popular Choice Award at the Houses of Parliament UK.
